The term ASCII code is probably a bit like 'Greek' to most of you. It was to me too, not long ago! But let me just say that it is a matter of using several keystrokes to create a symbol that you cannot find on the standard keyboard. In word processing packages you have the option of going to the "symbol' selection and choosing various symbols. Here at iVillage this is not the case. So if you want to use some symbols you have to know how to create them.

 

Following is a list of the symbols that can be used in iVillage. There are actually a couple more...but they are not accepted here in the webpage editor!

 

To create these symbols you must use the number keypad with the Num Lock turned on. You cannot use the numbers at the top of your keyboard.

 

While holding down the Alt key, type the numbers necessary to create the symbol. As soon as you release the Alt key the symbol will appear on screen. You must create each symbol separately.
